Overview

The EV Power BCP Socketed 7.2kW EVSE is a single-phase wall-mounted EVSE with Dynamic Load Balancing and a Type 2 socket.

It is a practical option for homes, baches, workplaces, and shared charging locations where you want a socketed EVSE with load management and the option to add solar-aware charging at the time of ordering.

Because this is a socketed EVSE, you use your own charging cable. This makes it easy to charge different vehicles by using the correct cable, and means you can take the cable with you to BYO-cable AC charging locations such as malls, supermarkets, motels, and public destination chargers.

Choose standard or solar

This listing is available with a choice of standard Dynamic Load Balancing or solar Dynamic Load Balancing. Please select the option you want from the dropdown before ordering.

  • Standard DLB option: includes Dynamic Load Balancing to help manage EV charging around the rest of your home or site power use.
  • Solar DLB option: includes the additional solar DLB hardware required for solar-aware charging, allowing the EVSE to be set up to use solar, grid power, or a mix of both depending on your installation and settings.

Best for

  • Homes wanting a socketed 7.2kW wall-mounted EVSE with load management
  • Customers who want to choose between standard DLB and solar DLB at the time of ordering
  • Baches, shared driveways, small workplaces, and light commercial charging
  • Multi-EV households where a socketed EVSE gives more flexibility
  • Drivers who want RFID access control and app-based setup through the ZBox app

Compatibility

Connection type: Type 2 socket / untethered

This EVSE suits Type 2, Type 1, and Japanese-import Tesla/NACS electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids when used with the correct charging cable.

Why choose the BCP Socketed EVSE?

  • Dynamic Load Balancing: adjusts charging power to help reduce the risk of overloading your home or site supply
  • Standard or solar options: choose the version that suits your installation before ordering
  • Socketed flexibility: change cables as your vehicles change, or support visitors with different EVs
  • RFID access: helps control who can start a charging session
  • ZBox app setup: configure settings such as maximum current and charging behaviour from your phone
  • Adjustable output: can be configured from 6A to 32A to suit the installation
  • Built-in DC leakage detection: includes EV-specific fault protection as part of the unit

Dynamic Load Balancing and solar

Dynamic Load Balancing helps manage EV charging around the rest of your site’s power use. When household or business loads are high, the EVSE can reduce charging power to help protect the supply and reduce nuisance tripping.

If you select the solar option, the package includes the extra solar DLB hardware needed for solar-aware charging. When installed and configured correctly, the EVSE can be set up to charge from solar, from the grid, or from a combination of both.

If you are unsure whether you need the standard or solar option, please get in touch before ordering and we can help you choose the right version for your installation.

Charging speed guide

On a suitable single-phase 32A supply, this EVSE can charge at up to 7.2kW. That is roughly 50–55km of range per hour for a typical efficient EV, or most/all of a full charge overnight for many vehicles.

Actual charging speed depends on the vehicle, cable, installation, available supply, EVSE settings, battery state, and charging losses.

Choosing the right EV charging setup

The EV Power BCP Socketed EVSE is a good choice if you want a socketed 7.2kW wall EVSE with Dynamic Load Balancing, RFID access, app-based setup, and the option to choose solar DLB when ordering.

If you want a simpler and more budget-friendly socketed wall EVSE, consider the EV Power Slimline Single Phase EVSE. It is hard to beat for a simple, robust, easy-to-use 7.2kW setup.

If you want a smart socketed EVSE with OCPP support, Dynamic Load Balancing, optional solar capability, app/RFID/plug-and-charge control, and EECA-approved status, consider the ECO Charge 7.2kW Smart OCPP EVSE.

If you prefer a premium New Zealand-made EVSE with the Evnex software and support ecosystem, clean design, integrated connectivity, solar-aware charging, and strong local backing, consider the Evnex E2 Plus.
