Portable EVSEs are a practical charging option for travel, bach use, emergency backup, or situations where a fixed wall-mounted EVSE is not available. They plug into a suitable wall outlet and give you a flexible way to charge your EV at home, at work, or on the road.

For standard household sockets, choose a 10A portable EVSE. These are simple and convenient, but slower than a dedicated wall unit. A 10A portable EVSE typically adds around 15–18km of range per hour to an efficient EV, or around 120–145km from an 8-hour overnight charge.

If you have access to a suitable 16A caravan-style outlet, a 16A portable EVSE can charge faster, typically adding around 25–28km of range per hour. These will not plug into a normal household socket, so choose carefully or get in touch if you are unsure.

Portable EVSEs are great for flexibility, but for regular everyday home charging, a wall-mounted EVSE is usually the better long-term solution. Wall units are faster, tidier, more convenient, and can offer smart features such as scheduling, solar charging, load management, and app control.
