Overview

The EV Power BCP 22kW Three Phase EVSE is a wall-mounted tethered EVSE with Dynamic Load Balancing and an attached Type 2 charging cable.

It is designed for homes, businesses, workshops, baches, staff parking, and light commercial sites with three-phase power available. It is a practical option if you want faster AC charging, load management, and the option to add solar-aware charging at the time of ordering.

A tethered EVSE is convenient if you regularly charge Type 2 vehicles and want the cable permanently attached and ready to plug in.

Choose standard or solar

This listing is available with a choice of standard Dynamic Load Balancing or solar Dynamic Load Balancing. Please select the option you want from the dropdown before ordering.

  • Standard DLB option: includes Dynamic Load Balancing to help manage EV charging around the rest of your home or site power use.
  • Solar DLB option: includes the additional solar DLB hardware required for solar-aware charging, allowing the EVSE to be set up to use solar, grid power, or a mix of both depending on your installation and settings.

Best for

  • Homes or businesses with three-phase power available
  • Drivers with Type 2 EVs that support three-phase AC charging
  • Workshops, dealerships, staff parking, and light commercial charging
  • Customers who want Dynamic Load Balancing to help protect the site supply
  • Customers who want to choose between standard DLB and solar DLB at the time of ordering
  • Drivers who want an attached Type 2 cable ready for everyday charging

Compatibility

Connection type: Attached Type 2 charging cable

This EVSE is designed for Type 2 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. It can charge at up to 22kW when installed on a suitable three-phase supply and connected to a vehicle that supports three-phase AC charging.

Many EVs only support single-phase AC charging. These vehicles can still charge from this EVSE if they have a Type 2 AC charge port, but they will only charge at their own single-phase AC limit.

Common Type 2 vehicles in New Zealand include Tesla Model 3/Y, BYD Atto 3/Dolphin/Seal, MG ZS EV/MG4, Hyundai Ioniq/Kona/Ioniq 5, Kia Niro EV/EV6/EV9, Polestar 2, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Peugeot, Renault, Mini, Ford, LDV, Toyota bZ4X, Subaru Solterra, and many other EVs and PHEVs.

This tethered Type 2 unit is best suited to vehicles with a Type 2 AC charge port. If you want to easily change between Type 2, Type 1, or Japanese-import Tesla/NACS vehicles, a socketed EVSE may be a better choice.

Why choose the BCP Three Phase EVSE?

  • Up to 22kW charging: faster AC charging for compatible vehicles on suitable three-phase supplies
  • Attached Type 2 cable: convenient daily charging without needing to plug in a separate cable
  • Dynamic Load Balancing: adjusts charging power to help reduce the risk of overloading your home or site supply
  • Standard or solar options: choose the version that suits your installation before ordering
  • RFID access: helps control who can start a charging session
  • ZBox app setup: configure settings such as maximum current and charging behaviour from your phone
  • Adjustable output: can be configured to suit the installation
  • Built-in DC leakage detection: includes EV-specific fault protection as part of the unit

Dynamic Load Balancing and solar

Dynamic Load Balancing helps manage EV charging around the rest of your site’s power use. When household or business loads are high, the EVSE can reduce charging power to help protect the supply and reduce nuisance tripping.

If you select the solar option, the package includes the extra solar DLB hardware needed for solar-aware charging. When installed and configured correctly, the EVSE can be set up to charge from solar, from the grid, or from a combination of both.

If you are unsure whether you need the standard or solar option, please get in touch before ordering and we can help you choose the right version for your installation.

Charging speed guide

On a suitable three-phase 32A supply, this EVSE can charge at up to 22kW. For compatible vehicles, that can add roughly 120–150km of range per hour, making it much faster than a single-phase 7.2kW EVSE.

Many EVs only accept single-phase AC charging, so they will not charge at the full 22kW rate even when connected to a three-phase EVSE. Actual charging speed depends on the vehicle, installation, available supply, EVSE settings, battery state, and charging losses.

Choosing the right EV charging setup

The EV Power BCP Three Phase EVSE is a good choice if you want a tethered 22kW wall EVSE with Dynamic Load Balancing, RFID access, app-based setup, and the option to choose solar DLB when ordering.

If you have three-phase power but want a simpler and more budget-friendly socketed EVSE, consider the EV Power Slimline Three Phase EVSE. It is a great-value 22kW option without the extra DLB or solar options.

If you want a premium New Zealand-made three-phase EVSE with solar-aware charging, Dynamic Load Balancing, OCPP support, strong connectivity, and socketed or tethered options, consider the Evnex X22.

If your home only has single-phase power, or your vehicle only supports single-phase AC charging, a 7.2kW single-phase EVSE is usually the better fit.

Stock and dispatch

This EVSE is usually drop-shipped from our supplier and is often available for fast dispatch, depending on supplier stock. If timing is important, please get in touch before ordering and we can confirm availability.

Installation

This EVSE must be installed by a registered electrician on a suitable three-phase supply. Suitable circuit protection and installation requirements will depend on your site, switchboard, supply capacity, Dynamic Load Balancing setup, and whether the standard or solar DLB option is selected.
